What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers, also called dental veneers or tooth veneers, are a thin layer of porcelain bonded to the surface of your teeth to create a more aesthetically pleasing smile.

While porcelain by itself can be brittle, when adequately bonded to your natural teeth, veneers are strong and durable.

Generally, people will select porcelain veneers to correct or repair teeth that are discolored, worn, chipped, or misaligned. When installed by an experienced professional, porcelain veneers produce a natural and beautiful smile.

Insist on education and experience

While many dentists will insist that cosmetic dentistry is their specialty, very few have the training and experience of Dr. Rick Austin at Gateway Dental Arts. Dr. Austin is one of only three dentists in Utah (and only a select few across the country) to have graduated from the Advanced Dental Studies program at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute.

And while training is essential, Dr. Austin also has over 30 years of experience. Since beginning his practice, he’s placed an excellent 50,000 cosmetic porcelain restorations.

Quick & easy treatment with our ceramist

At Gateway Dental Arts, porcelain veneers/crowns can be completed in just two visits. Most all dentists have their porcelain work made through a mail-order facility lab. The work that comes back is “how things are going to look!”

So patients, and to a certain extent, the dentist presents the final work and “look” as “this is how it is,” with no ability for customization, fine-tuning, and changes. The ceramists we work with meet with the patients for a thorough discussion of shade and shape from the first visit. Temporary veneers are created from working models with the new smile integrated into them, so patients can “test drive” their new smile? Upon the insertion visit, shape, shade, and position modifications can be made quickly and conveniently due to the on-site equipment available to make these changes. These changes can happen in as little as 15 minutes without sending them via mail to an off-site laboratory.

The ceramist is always present during insertion to ensure everything goes smoothly and that our patients are pleased with their results. Each patient signs an agreement of, “I love my new smile, please put them in permanently!” to assure complete and total satisfaction. If patients have any concerns, we take care of these concerns at this critical point, so we know our patients will be happy with the process. To see and approve cosmetic treatments before final insertion is what makes our office very unique. We pride ourselves on delivering the most cosmetic and durable dental treatments to the patient’s liking, so they don’t have to get this procedure done repeatedly.
